Whiskey & Lemons introduces a new Career mode, that adds role playing elements to the Grand Tactician: The Civil War campaigns. Create your own character, follow your commanders' orders, gain prestige and promotions. When in position to do so, play a key role in your nation's war-effort.
The DLC also includes other new features, such as a new Regiment scale Eastern Theater campaign, focusing in the area around State of Virginia, from South Carolina to Ohio and New York City.
The DLC is released for PC on Steam on August 25, 2023, for USD 24,99. Epic Store and GOG releases will follow very shortly!

UPDATED 4th JULY 2020. To make the Civil War come to life, Grand Tactician has teamed up with LionHeart FilmWorks, LLC, a Richmond, VA based film production company. The high-quality, epic re-enactment footage is used in Grand Tactician's cutscene videos to deliver the story of the war in a way that is uncommon in video games. The in-game videos are produced using LionHeart's footage and historical potographs, colorized by artist Wasel Arar, by Video Producer & Editor Matti Veekamo.

Engineer Corps Clearing the Obstacles!
War! After the deterioration of relations between the southern and northern states, South Carolina militia batteries bombarded United States garrison of Fort Sumter near Charleston, South Carolina. Following the surrender of Fort Sumter garrison, Northerners have rallied behind President Lincoln's call for 75,000 volunteers from all states to serve for 90 days to quell the rebellion. On both sides of this abruptly erupted American Civil War, Grand Tacticians are needed to take command of the opposing armies and to lead them to victory.
Take command of the Union or the Confederacy. Prepare your nation for war, recruit and organize great armies and fleets under legendary commanders like Grant, Lee, Jackson or Farragut, plan cunning maneuvers on an epic campaign map and defeat your enemies in real-time battles!
The game, developed by our small and dedicated team of Engineers is available in Early Access. The game will be released in full on September 24, 2021.
Features
Grand Tactician: The Civil War (1861-1865) is a real time strategy game, where you will run your nation, muster, manage and support great armies, and maneuver them to defeat the enemy. Once the opposing armies meet, command your troops to victory in battles fought on historical battlefields.
- Choose your side in the American Civil War: Real-time campaign, spanning from Secession to the end of the war, with historical objectives for both sides.
- Change history: What if European superpowers intervened to end the war, or Lincoln lost the presidential election of 1864?
- Scott’s Great Snake: Lay siege, raid and blockade your enemy on land and sea or use blockade runners to keep the life-lines to Europe open.
- From Fort Sumter to Appomattox: Watch closely the morale of your citizens and troops. As the war drags on, fervour turns to fatigue, the treasury threatens to run dry, and measures like drafting will cause unrest.
- Keep the armies marching: Build and manage the flow of supplies to your armies. Utilize and expand railroad lines to supply and move armies for the first time in history!
- Pivotal battles: Fight battles lasting multiple days on historical battlefields. Use engineers to build pontoons and dig trenches, see reinforcements change the tide and commit your reserves to defeat the enemy.
- Grant vs. Lee: Manage hundreds of historical commanders with personal attributes and specialization. Famous commanders inspire soldiers and citizens alike and loss of reputation can be irreparable.
- Command Great Armies: Huge armies of infantry, cavalry and artillery, with realistic command structures and historical Order of Battle.
- Bring the Civil War to life: Amazing Civil War re-enactment and combat footage from LionHeart FilmWorks, and an original soundtrack of old time music and drum and fife band.

“Ultimately, despite their incredibly low numbers throughout the war, Army Engineers played a pivotal role in the eastern theater. The Engineer Brigade carried the Army of the Potomac across rivers and streams from the Potomac to the James, laid siege to Confederate fortifications, and designed earthworks that protected the Army during prolonged engagements. To a lesser extent, the engineers developed and deployed reconnaissance measures like hydrogen balloons, from which they could map and survey battlefields. And, when necessary, they served as skirmishers and guarded their bridges in the face of enemy assaults. Around Washington, D.C., engineer officers surveyed, designed, and managed the massive system of defenses to protect Washington from enemy attack. By design, the strong defenses effectively freed up Union forces for offensive maneuvers by rendering unnecessary a massive troop presence around the capital. Those engineers officers not involved with the Defenses of Washington were generally on fortification duty elsewhere, ensuring that America’s borders were well-protected in the event of invasion from Confederate-sympathizing European nations. Finally, other officers took leave from the agency to serve as engineer aids to field armies or to lead troops themselves. Famous names like George Meade, George McClellan, Andrew Humphreys, Robert E. Lee, P.G.T. Beauregard, and Gouverneur Warren were Army Engineers for most of their adult lives. Trained at West Point in engineering and the art of war, they had a tremendous impact on how the American Civil War unfolded.”
